Political Opinions on Social Networks
With the presidential debate tonight, I didn't have to watch a minute of it to know what was going on. Looking at Facebook and (much more so) Twitter, there were a handful of people who made their opinions and interpretations of the debate painfully clear. Despite who the people were praising or bashing, each post angered me. I support expressing political feelings, but I don't feel that social media is the place to do it. Does the entire world have to know your every political sentiment? Do you have to make those who don't agree with your views feel attacked or isolated? No. I feel there are much better places and times to express feeling and opinions about politics; NOT Facebook and Twitter.

Agreed, we can talk politics after Armageddon, so we can discuss a new way to reform society.
ReplyDeleteBut I actually think that social networking is a fine place to discuss politics, if you are willing to do so and you can do so respectfully. You may have your feelings hurt but at least you don't have the urge to scream out loud and draw attention, and you can just ignore someone you don't want to talk about.
Regarding your question of "why does the world need to know?", I say: that's the whole POINT. What's the point of political campaigns other than spreading the word??? Social media is the ultimate media, and the best tool to find the youth vote.
PS: Can you tell I avoid politics?
